Just a place to stay. Somewhat clean. For "complimentary" breakfast, you have to cross a busy highway only to be greeted with a few donuts, cold cereal and coffee. Coffee was good, especially since I couldn't make any in my room. Our coffee pot looked like it had only been rinsed out from the previous 10 occupants, and only had 1 pkg of decaf....I need caffeine in the a.m. Something was splattered on bathroom door, I'm hoping was cola, and there was something sprayed on toilet seat, I'm hoping was disinfectant, which I cleaned myself. At checkout, woman couldn't put down her cellphone or cig long enough to ask how our stay was. She just held her hand out for the keys. Would I stay here again? Probably not.
On the beach. Nice place. Outdoor activities.
Rooms were decent. Good location on the lake right next to Dock's bar. The downside is the hotel often has weddings and receptions which limit the other guests use of the hotel deck and beach area. All of the hotel deck furniture was removed Friday and Saturday for two seperate weddings. The sand was blocked off for wedding guests only. The hotel does not notify guests when booking rooms or checking-in of these events taking place. This was our second time staying at this hotel so we were prepared with other plans Saturday. Unfortunately this time there was a wedding both Friday and Saturday nights so we were unable to enjoy the deck and beach from our own hotel both nights we were in town. The Hotel staff really needs to do a better job at communicating this information to guests. For the price of these rooms you should be able to use the common areas at any time and not be shooed away for other people's events. Very inconvenient.
We really enjoyed our stay. The room was nice & right on the beach. Live entertainment just a short distance across the sand. The musicians were good. The drinks were too! Docks Beach house is a bit too expensive on their entrées. Just order the cheaper menu items then enjoy the drinks & music. The only down side was the beach venu was hosting a wedding on Saturday evening so we couldn't enjoy the beach like the days before. I couldn't understand why Dock's still had a band playing with very loud music blaring just yards away. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and will stay again just not on a Saturday. Also Jackie the Hotel manager is great!
Room was nice, but was supposed to have hot tub in room. Parking was horrible. They give you a parking permit at check in....what for? When patrons for the dockhouse can park there to...smh. They expected me to park across four lanes of traffic with my stuff and purchases. For the price I paid I expect a parking spot close to room. Lady at office was not helpful at all or very nice. And seriously, not being able to take a drink out to the private beach area? What did my $120 pay for? Will not stay there again!
